Goals are nice, but you still need to play everyday and carry them out.
Often time when creating goals we get so caught up and focused on the end result and the goal itself that we forget to play here in the present. If you are looking to far ahead you will lose sight of the little details that will get you there, if you continue to look at the past then you will fall into the same traps over and over. Find something to feel successful about for, NOW.
If you wait around for the moment that you feel good, then you will be waiting a long time and eventually you will lose motivation and the goal will fade. Whatever you are waiting for is probably a ways off; you must act now and get there day by day. Just like eating an elephant.
The only way to eat an elephant is 1 bite at a time…
Enjoy how you are playing now; enjoy the process, enjoy the moment. If you wait around for good conditions or until the time is just right, you are limiting your enjoyment of the game. What you are waiting for may never come, but now is here in this moment. There is always something that we are waiting for and then success will happen. Stop waiting until you get that perfect situation to hit in, make the big play, deliver a clutch hit, etc., so you can feel succesful, if you want it, act on it
Remember
ACE
ACTION CHANGES EVERYTHING.
It is always nice to attain the big goals, but usually the glow of achievement is short lived and we need to move on to the next goal/mission/challenge. There will always be problems and obstacles in your life and there will always be things that you want. If you wait for those problems to go away, or if you wait until you have the perfect life, you will never be succesful. You must choose to be succesful, independently of events that life throws you, or if you haven’t achieved your goal yet..
Today + today + today = your career

Don’t Count The Days…
Thursday, August 16th, 2007Don’t count the days, make the days count…
You want to count. Count something worth counting. Count how many times you got back up, not the times you fell. You want to count. Count the times you succeeded, count the times when you were at your best; count when good deeds were done; count the times when people were fair, honest, and kind.
If you counted more wrong than right, more evil than good, more hatred than kindness then perhaps you count was off…off of what’s worth counting.
In the past you have heard us talk about the importance of “today,” that your life is the sum of your todays and that you must get off your anatomy, and put your goals into action.
Well here is one more step, one more tool, because motivation is like a shower, you need it daily or you get dirty and lose it!
So what is the trick? What is the magical sequence that will make all of your dreams come true?
Answer: this question, how many days until your next BIRTHDAY?
- Maybe it’s a big birthday, you surely know the number of days
How many DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
How many Days UNTIL School is OUT?? Students, you all have this one down…
What you are doing is something that we all do all too often, it is a trap that leads us to believe that we are preparing for the future when actually we are simply counting the days, and “going through the motions.”
This is where we have gone WRONG.
“Don’t count the days, MAKE THE DAYS COUNT.”
STUDENTS, if you want A’s
if you want to retain what you learn
if YOU want to be SMARTER!!
Start focusing on the day, the process, and the outcome will take care of itself. When you get lost in focusing on the moment and “being here NOW” you lose track of time, you get more done, you get dialed in and find that you are on auto pilot, cruising through work or work outs, you are IN THE ZONE. When you develop a routine and make this a habit you become many things:
you become smarter,
stronger,
more prepared…
I can go on and on…
if you get stuck counting down the days/hours/minutes and seconds, you will do none of the above, in fact… YOU will do the OPPOSITE.
“Don’t count the days, MAKE THE DAYS COUNT.”
